About Us

Hawen Soap & Candles is a small business based in a little rural village near the coast in Ceredigion, West Wales.  I was born and raised in Wales and our business is named after the river running through the village. 

We have been making our soap and candles for many years, all handmade/hand-poured in small batches, mainly 'just for us', our family and friends.  In 2020 we decided the time was right to make our hobby into a small business for everyone to enjoy. 

Our aim is to provide quality, no-frills products at affordable prices.

All the products are carefully sourced from reputable suppliers. 

The plant-based eco-friendly Coconut & Rapeseed Wax used in our scented candles and wax melts are completely free from paraffin, soy, palm, beeswax and synthetic additives. Hawen Candle products are all CLP Compliant.

The candles and wax melts are all mainly named in Welsh. Hawen (named after the Hawen river), Cofio (remember), Cariad (love), Cranogwen (name of a famous inspirational Welsh woman), Seren (star), Cartref (home), Ar Lan y Môr (Beside the sea), Awyr las (blue sky), Cwtch (cuddle), Hâf (summer), and Calon Lân (A pure heart).

Our traditional handmade cold process soap is made from natural high quality ingredients, some are made with essential oils and other are made with fragrance oils.  The colours in the soap are either from clay (essential oil soap) or cosmetic mica colours (fragrance oil soap). All products are assessed and labelled according to EU Legislation.

The shampoo bars are free from SLS, SLES, Silicone, and Parabens.
